Metabo HPT Demolition Hammer, 70 Pound, 51.6 Ft-Lbs (70J) of Impact Energy, 1-1/8 In. Hex Shank - H90SG
The 1-1/8 Inch Hex Demolition Hammer (H90SG) makes improvements on previous models with greater power, increased performance, lower vibration and a universal tool retainer. The 15 amp motor powers an improved hammering mechanism, which more efficiently transfers energy to the bit, improving demolition performance. A new vibration absorbing main handle produces low full-load vibration, resulting in less user fatigue and greater productivity. This hammer employs a sealed grease system and auto-stop brushes for minimal maintenance and durability.

What our Experts Think
-
Class‑leading demolition power
The Metabo HPT Demolition Hammer H90SG delivers 51.6 ft‑lbs (70 J) of impact energy with a 15 A motor and ~1000 BPM, giving one of the strongest impact performances in its class for breaking concrete, masonry, and other hard materials.
-
Designed for heavy‑duty jobsites
Its 70 lb body with a 1‑1/8″ hex shank fits common heavy bits and provides the brute force needed for deep channeling, slab removal, and serious demolition tasks.
-
Comfort‑focused vibration control
User Vibration Protection (UVP) technology uses internal counterweights and springs to significantly reduce vibration transmitted to the operator, helping lower fatigue and improve productivity on long jobs.
-
Durable aluminum housing
Aluminum Housing Body (AHB) increases ruggedness and resists jobsite wear better than plastic alternatives—ideal for demanding commercial use.
-
Optimized bit performance & universal tool retainer
The universal 1‑1/8″ hex interface accepts collared or slotted bits, making it versatile and simple to equip for chiseling, scaling, or chunk removal.
-
Less downtime, lower maintenance
Sealed grease system and auto‑stop brushes reduce service needs and help extend tool life, while soft grip handles improve comfort over extended use.
-
Contractor‑ready performance

Maintenance Tips
-
Clean After Use: Wipe down the tool and use compressed air around the bit holder and vents to remove dust and debris that can build up during demolition work.
-
Inspect & Tighten Fasteners: Regularly check and tighten housing screws and handles — heavy vibration can loosen them over time.
-
Maintain the Bit Retainer: Ensure the 1‑1/8 in. hex bit and retainer are clean and secure before each use to prevent slippage and reduce wear.
-
Monitor Brushes & Sealed Grease System: The H90SG uses a sealed grease system and auto‑stop brushes for durability; if brushes wear (indicated in manual), replace with genuine parts per instructions.
-
Avoid Overheating: Operate within the intended duty cycle — running continuously at full load generates heat and stresses internal components.
-
Power Cord Care: Check the power cord for cuts, kinks, or frays before each use — damaged cords can compromise performance and safety.
-
Control Vibration: Use the built‑in User Vibration Protection (UVP) properly and take breaks to reduce fatigue and stress on tool internals.
-
Lubricate Moving Contact Points: After heavy use, lightly lubricate contact areas (as outlined in the manual) to prevent binding and wear.
